Joint media statement
The signing of the MoU between the two government entities signals a coordinated effort to enhance the use of technology to fight the scourge of corruption and maladministration in the country. The organisations agreed to collaborate on a variety of strategic areas, which include, enhancing data analytics and sharing, digital forensics, information and cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, distributed ledger technology or blockchain and cyber infrastructure support.
The partnership will see capability building in the development of digital investigation tools, digital forensic investigations and analysis, cloud and high-performance computing to uproot cybercrimes before they occur.

During the four-day event, held from 30 January to 2 February 2023, ACCESS shared in formation and debated on current local research and development initiatives that highlight some of the most pressing climate change challenges, while discussing the overall possible measures that can be taken to tackle the worsening impact of climate change.
As co-hosts and chairs of the three open sessions, Dr Neville Swejid and Dr Carl Palmer led engagements that consisted of vibrant presentations and panel exchanges, all of which evoked the prior noted themes and their associated dynamics. ACCESS hosted two side events focused on research on our changing climate.

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has appointed a Manufacturing Industry Advisory Panel to align its manufacturing efforts with industry priorities.
“The Southern Ocean has managed to protect all of us from some of the most extreme impacts of climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide emissions and the heat generated by these emissions through the greenhouse effect. But this protection comes at a cost to the natural ecosystems of Antarctica and the Southern Ocean,” says Ryan-Keogh.
During his TEDx Johannesburg talk titled “A changing Southern Ocean: The impact of climate change”, Ryan-Keogh explained that 26 years of data revealed that the phytoplankton in the Southern Ocean was becoming more iron-stressed with time.
