Dr Adeiza Onumanyi's research interests encompass a broad range of topics, including the development, implementation and testing of algorithms for systems used in edge intelligence, smart grids, transactive energy, the internet of things (IoT), cognitive radio spectrum sensing, metaheuristic optimisation algorithms, wireless sensor networks, image processing, cyber-physical systems and low-power wireless area networks.
With over 12 years of professional teaching and research experience, Dr Onumanyi is a dynamic and resourceful researcher. He served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Pretoria from 2018 to 2019 before joining the CSIR in February 2021. At the CSIR, his work focuses on designing and implementing models and algorithms to enable the successful deployment of edge intelligent systems for transactive energy in smart grids.
Dr Onumanyi has made significant contributions to his field, publishing over 34 peer-reviewed journal articles, 22 conference papers and one book chapter. He has also served on several conference organising committees, including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) conferences and has reviewed numerous articles for high-impact journals. Currently, he is a guest editor for a special issue in the Journal of Sensor and Actuator Networks.
In addition to his research, Dr Onumanyi is a registered candidate engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa and a member of the Institute of Information Technology Professionals of South Africa. He is also a professional member of the IEEE.
