Koen leads a team of statisticians who specialise in the collection, assessment and analysis of scientific data for the improvement of knowledge and decision-making.
Khutlang’s research interests are biological image analysis, exemplar and latent fingerprint acquisition and 3D image analysis using optical coherence tomography. His focus is backed by a sound knowledge base in image processing and machine learning
Bergh’s interest lies in evaluation and testing of mechanical systems and his role includes the management of laboratories and facilities that offer health and safety testing and training services to the mining and other industries.
Coetzee leads the future production systems research group and has a keen interest in digital transformation for various applications. Currently, the group is focusing on investigating how emerging 4IR technologies and digital platforms can advance manufacturing and provide a competitive advantage for industry. The future production systems group is also driving the Learning Factory, Smart Factory, Blockchain and Plant Simulation platforms to support the local industry.
