Josiah Jideani
Jideani’s research interests include the design and development of signal processing algorithms with a particular focus on underwater sonar imaging systems.
Full Profile
Jideani holds an MSc degree in electrical engineering from the University of the Cape Town. He joined the CSIR in 2013 and plays a leading role in the design and development of underwater sonar imaging systems. He and his team developed two sonar imaging demonstrators including South Africa’s first synthetic aperture sonar and the high-resolution three-dimensional multibeam imaging system.
He has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed papers, most recently an award-winning paper on demonstrating the advantages of wideband piezo composite transducers with a high-resolution multi-receiver synthetic aperture sonar demonstrator.
