Join us for the research symposium titled: Assessing the co-benefits of renewable energies in South Africa

When: 2 – 3 October 2017

Where: The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Pretoria campus

The research symposium will be co-hosted by the CSIR and the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies, Germany, under the project consortium ‘Mobilising the multiple benefits of renewable energies’ by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB).

The objectives of the symposium are to:

• Synthesise harmonised methodologies for estimating the economic value of the health, social and environmental benefits of renewable energy deployment,
• Examine methodologies currently used by scientists in South Africa and the international community to quantify the multiple benefits of climate change mitigation through renewable energies deployment in the country, and
• Share results and methodologies being used by policy makers and South African government departments to adequately measure and seize the multiple co-benefits of renewable energies.
